What has Belarus achieved in five years of work on sustainable development with regard to the 2030 Agenda? What is hindering the achievement of SDG 12 targets? The first civil society report on SDG 12 in Belarus reflects on the current situation, analyzes obstacles and gives recommendations to the government, the non-profit sector and citizens to achieve SDG 12. The participating experts present a comprehensive assessment of the current situation in Belarus to ensure the transition to sustainable consumption and production and note that the overall trend of work on SDG 12 in the country is positive. Results were achieved mainly in areas where actors from several sectors were involved in the process: Government, business, civil society and volunteers. The report points out that the 2030 Agenda has so far received insufficient support from the government and needs more resources. The text presents the best joint civil society programs and projects to promote responsible consumption, the principles of the sharing economy and the development of social entrepreneurship.
The publication was prepared in 2021 within the project “Sustainable Development Lab” of the Berlin-based NGO Dekabristen e. V. together with the Partnership Group for Sustainable Development of Belarus with support from the German Federal Foreign Office.
