Spotlight Report on the Implementation of SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation in Ukraine

Already prior to the Russian full-scale war, Ukraine has been facing challenges in ensuring access to safe drinking water and proper sewage treatment, particularly in rural areas. The authors of the Spotlight Report analysed the multifaceted challenges of Ukraine in the implementation of SDG 6 “Clean Water and Sanitation”, highlighting the disruptive impact of climate change, dwindling financial resources, and hurdles in the implementation of effective water management practices as well as the significant damage to water supply infrastructure due to the Russian aggression. In light of this analysed data, the authors have formulated a series of recommendations for communities, the government as well as civil society and scientists.

The “Spotlight Report on the Implementation of SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation in the Ukraine” has been developed by NGO Ukrainian Nature Conversation Group and NGO «Rivers of Khmelnytskyi» with support from the German Federal Foreign Office.
